Our 2021 Speakers
David is the Chief Information Officer for GE Research. His team’s missions are the development, enabling, and scaling of digital technologies and advanced digital capabilities for Research, GE Businesses, and Government customers to deliver value and outcomes. He currently chair’s the US Government Department of Energy’s Exascale Computing Project Industry Council and vicechair’s the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Digital Engineering Integration Committee.
Prior to this, David was the Engineering Chief Information Officer for GE Oil & Gas where his teams drove digital transformation within engineering product development and across the functions.
Prior to GE, he spent more than 25 years with GM leading teams in Global Systems Development & Operations, Global Product Development, and Global Manufacturing.
David is a graduate of Kettering University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is also a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Master of Science in Engineering and Management of Technology. He is a certified DFSS Blackbelt.
Professor David Grewell received a BS, MS and Ph.D. in Industrial Systems and Welding Engineering from The Ohio State University. He holds 17 patents, has been given numerous honors and awards and as well as numerous publications, including two books.
He is the department chair of Industrial and Manufacturing engineering a North Dakota State University. Prior to his recent move to NDSU, he was a Professor at Iowa State University in the department Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering for 14 years and at Emerson Electric for nearly 14 years.
Dr. Grewell is the Director of the NSF Center for Bioplastics and Biocomposites, International Institute of Welding Commission IXV, a Board Member of the Ultrasonic Industry Association, Society of Plastics Industry and Society of Plastics Engineers. He also has a position at the University of Erlangen in Germany and is a Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers as well as National Academia of Inventors.
